A leased bicycle can have an impact on the amount of an employee's mortgage. An employee (unlike a self-employed person) does not receive a BKR listing. However, it can have a small impact on the amount of the mortgage. Below the explanation:
The lease company and the company have a business agreement for lease bicycles, which basically works just like a lease car.
- The company pays the monthly lease amount to the leasing company.
- The company has chosen to facilitate the arrangement whereby the employee can exchange part of the bicycle via his or her gross salary. This is known in the Netherlands as the cafeteria arrangement.
- In concrete terms, this means that the SVZ wage will be voluntarily reduced at that time. In this example, this means that if €40,000 gross is earned, the annual wage is temporarily reduced by €1,200 to €38,800. In some cases, the SVZ wage is also increased if it is decided to sell 5 vacation days.
- This means that the mortgage (and possibly other matters such as rent allowance) is calculated over an amount of €38,800. This of course has an impact on the amount that can be borrowed.
