If your lease contract started before January 1, 2025, please check this article.
Leaving your job affects your lease contract. Lease a Bike offers several options, but it’s ultimately up to your employer to decide which options are applied within the company.
1. Transfer the lease contract to your new employer. Provided that your new employer is affiliated, or willing to become affiliated, with Lease a Bike and agrees to take over the contract, the contract will continue without a final settlement.
2. Find a colleague to take over the existing lease contract. Since the contract continues, there will be no final settlement.
3. You want to terminate the lease contract due to dismissal, resignation, or long-term illness (longer than 3 months). For this option, there are two possibilities:
a. Terminating the lease contract and taking over the bike.
b. Terminating the lease contract and returning the bike.
Since the lease contract is being terminated, a final settlement will take place. The table below shows how the final settlement is calculated.
4. You want to terminate the lease contract for another reason. If you leave employment for a reason other than those described above, or if you want to terminate the lease contract while remaining employed, the following conditions apply:
a. You can take over the lease bike at 40% of the remaining lease terms + the market value of the bike.
b. You can also choose to return the lease bike, in which case you only pay 40% of the remaining lease terms.
Example calculation (other reason):
The sale price of your lease bike is €3,199 with a monthly lease rate of €121.90. Your lease contract is 18 months old and you decide to terminate the lease contract. The final settlement is calculated as follows: 40% of 121.90 = 48.76 x 18 months = €877.68 + (optional) the market value of the bike of €1,823.43 = €2,701.11.
You need to submit your choice to the Lease a Bike contact person within your company. Once this person has submitted your request to us, you will receive a confirmation. Please note: the request must be submitted before the 20th of the month in order to terminate the lease contract as of the first day of the following month.
Once the early termination has been completed, your employer will settle the final payment with you on a net basis.
