There is no obligation to do this. However, experience shows that participation in company bicycle leasing among employees increases when employers pay a contribution.
Most employers return any savings that occur to the employee; the travel allowance that will lapse will be converted into a (gross) contribution to the lease bicycle. The same applies to savings on social security costs. On average, an employer saves about €25 per month per employee in social security costs. In this way it is cost neutral for the employer and financially interesting for the employee.
