If your lease contract started before January 1, 2025, please check this article.
When an employee with an active lease contract leaves the company, the agreements stated in the addendum come into effect. Every employee signs this document before they are allowed to choose the lease bike.
We provide a sample addendum. This document states, for example, that the colleague leaving the company must pay off the remaining lease terms net. In this construction, the company pays the remaining terms to the leasing company, after which the employer settles these costs with the employee. Depending on the company's chosen condition, the employee has the following 4 options:
1. The employee who leaves the company can have the existing lease contract taken over by a colleague within the company.
2. The employee who leaves the company can take the existing lease contract to another company that is already connected or willing to connect.
3. Terminate the lease contract due to dismissal, resignation, or long-term illness (longer than 3 months). In this option, there are two possibilities:
a. Terminate the lease contract and take over the bike.
b. Terminate the lease contract and return the bike.
Since the lease contract is being terminated, a final settlement will take place. The table below shows how the final settlement is calculated.
4. Terminate the lease contract for another reason.
If the employee leaves for a reason other than those described above, or wants to terminate the lease contract while still employed, the following conditions apply:
- The employee can take over the lease bike for 40% of the remaining lease terms + the market value of the bike.
- The employee can also choose to return the lease bike, in which case they only pay 40% of the remaining lease terms.
Example calculation (other reason):
The sales price of the lease bike is €3,199 with a monthly lease rate of €121.90. The lease contract is 18 months old, and the employee decides to terminate the lease contract. The final settlement is calculated as follows: 40% of 121.90 = 48.76 x 18 months = €877.68 + (optional) the market value of the bike of €1,823.43 = €2,701.11.
